Born in a dignified family in Tamashpur, Nabiganj, Habiganj,
Krishna Pada Roy, BPM (Bar), PPM (Bar) joined Bangladesh Civil service (BCS) in
1995 to embark on career in Bangladesh Police. A highly decorated officer and
placed in the position of Commissioner, Chattogram Metropolitan Police on 18
July 2022, Krishna Pada Roy is the 30th personnel to grace this capacity of CMP.
His service period covers many capacities in various places home and abroad. He
was privileged to pioneer many administrative and operational innovations in
Dhaka Metropolitan Police. He also bagged the credit of serving the largest
metropolitan police with the mandate of maintaining law and order and preventing
crime to instill a sense of confidence and security among citizens.
After
completion of schooling at secondary and college level, he went for tertiary
education in University of Dhaka to major in Mass communication and Journalism
and earned bachelor`s degree. He finished postgraduation in the same discipline
with securing prestigious position.
In pursuance of academic excellence and
professional skills, he attended a number of foreign orientations which include,
but is not limited to ``United Nations Inter Agency Project on Human Trafficking
in Thailand, Sixth Annual Global Leadership Program in the USA, Strengthening
Government through Capacity Development of BCS Cadre Officials in Australia and
left an indelible mark of distinction.
He participated in Basic training course,
Foundation course, Land Management Orientation Course, Aid to Good Investigation
course, BCS officers Orientation course, Financial Management Course, Drug
Management Course, Aviation Security Management Course, Disaster Management
Course, Professional Standard and Responsibility Course, Transnational and
Economic Crime Course, Land Survey and Settlement Course, Comprehensive
Intelligence Course, Strategic Counter Terrorism Course, Pandemics and Public
Policy and others.
During the span of 26 year in a variety of capacities, he
retained reputation, integrity, competence, professionalism, code of honour and
other best practices only to add glory and dignity to Bangladesh Police. His
previous designations include Assistant Commissioner, CMP, Superintendent of
Police, Sherpur, Special Superintendent of Police, Criminal Investigation
Department, Superintendent of Police, Chandpur, Additional Police Commissioner,
Dhaka Metropolitan Police and many other capacities.
He was nominated to serve
the United Nations in its process of peace operations in Kosovo, Liberia and
Sudan in 2002, 2006 and 2013 respectively. His international career culminated
in earning laurels and medals for commanding police units in UNMIK, UNMIL and
UNAMID.
His gallantry in counter-terrorism and crime prevention and dedication
to serving community has been shown great admiration with the highest award in
Bangladesh Police. Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM) was conferred on him in 2015
and 2019 while President Police Medal (PPM) graced his badge in 2011 and 2017.
He also achieved IGP`s Exemplary Good Service Badge twice in recognition of his
highest professional standard.
He is happily married and blessed with a son and
a daughter.
